Surgery

Our highly trained and experienced staff and state-of-the-art medical technologies offer the most advanced surgical care for your pet!

Surgical Suite

As pet owners ourselves, each Eagan Pet Clinic team member is committed to treating each patient like their own. There is no better example of this commitment than during surgical procedures. Each patient is cared for and monitored by an experienced, licensed technician throughout the entire procedure. State-of-the-art monitoring equipment is utilized as well in order to monitor important parameters such as ECG, heart rate and blood pressure throughout the procedure. Hot Dog veterinary warming blankets are utilized for every patient undergoing anesthesia to assist in maintaining an ideal body temperature.

We communicate with you before surgery so you understand all treatment options and each step of the surgical process, after surgery to keep you fully informed about your pet's surgery and to keep you informed of your pet's progress and recovery.

Before surgery, we perform a thorough physical exam and oftentimes perform labwork prior to anesthesia. During surgery, your pet is closely monitored by the doctor and a knowledgeable licensed veterinary technician.

At Eagan Pet Clinic, we are equipped and trained to perform the following procedures on dogs and cats:

  • Spay and neuter surgery
  • Hernia repair
  • Oral/periodontal surgery
  • Abdominal exploratory for foreign object removal
  • Biopsy: skin, bone, liver, stomach, intestinal

Pain Management

Keeping your pet as comfortable as possible from the time they check-in for surgery until the time their procedure has healed is of utmost importance to us. Your dog or cat will receive multi-modal pain management before, during and after the procedure to keep your pet comfortable throughout the entire surgical process. We routinely prescribe at-home pain medication during the post-operative period to keep your pet comfortable during recovery at home.

Board Certified Surgical Specialists

Eagan Pet Clinic utilizes the services provided by Twin Cities Veterinary Surgical Group when more advanced surgeries are needed for your pet. This group is most utilized for orthopedic procedures such as TPLO (for ruptured cranial cruciate ligaments in the knee) and fractured limbs. Dr. Scott Murphy D.V.M., DACVS and Dr. Melissa Hoffer D.V.M., DACVS are the board certified surgeons who come to our hospital to provide these specialized services to our patients.
