Wellness care for Senior Dogs and Cats 8 Years or Older
Eagan Pet Clinic offers comprehensive senior pet care for dogs and cats. As your pet ages, there are a variety of conditions and diseases that they can face, including arthritis, kidney, heart, and liver disease, cancer, and hormone disorders such as diabetes and thyroid imbalances. Just as the health care needs of humans change as we age, the same applies to pets. To keep your senior pet as healthy and comfortable as possible, it is critical for you to work closely with us to devise a health plan.
Dogs and cats are living longer than they ever did before. As your dog or cat ages, more frequent exams and tests are needed to help detect early warning signs of disease and to monitor existing health conditions.
Symptoms common to senior pets should be discussed with your veterinarian at their wellness exams and include:
Our veterinarians will want to examine your senior dog or cat at least twice yearly. They may recommend chest x-rays, ultrasound and blood or urine tests to provide your pet with the best possible heath care. If your pet is on medications, our veterinarians may recommend diagnostic screening tests two to three times yearly depending on the medication.
Please call us today for a senior pet care exam if your dog or cat is 8 years or older so we may help them live healthy and pain free for as long as possible.
