Making an appointment:

Please call anytime during our office
hours to make an appointment. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00
am to 6:00pm and Saturdays 8:00-12:00.

Appointments are scheduled in 15 minute intervals Monday-Friday mornings
starting at 8:45-10:15 am and Monday-Friday afternoons starting at 2:00-5:15
pm. Appointments available on Saturday are from 8:00-11:15 am.

Our policy is to schedule sick patients as soon as physically
possible.

Emergencies will be seen anytime during office hours. Please
call to let us know you are coming.
What new clients should expect on your first
visit:

If you require any special help getting
you or your pet into the clinic please call ahead, and we will be happy to
assist you.

We ask that all dogs please be leashed, and cats either leashed or in a
carrier. Cardboard carriers are available from the receptionist for
$4.95 if you need to purchase one.

Please check in with the receptionist upon arriving for your
appointment. The receptionist will record your pets medical history
and current complaint. Please provide the receptionist with any
vaccine records or important medical history about your pet.

We have an open waiting room, which means dogs and cat are not separated
from each other. We would appreciate it if you would notify us when
scheduling your appointment if your pet is animal aggressive or fearful of
strangers. We can have you and your pet relax in an exam room until
your appointment time.

If you prefer a particular doctor, please let the receptionist know when
you schedule your appointment. We would hate to disappoint you if your
doctor was not scheduled to work on the day which your appointment was
scheduled.

Once we have a doctor available we will escort you into a quiet and
comfortable exam room..

Wait times are generally short, but if you feel more comfortable waiting
in exam room we would be glad accommodate you.
The examination:
-
A routine exam with vaccines will take approximately 15 minutes. If
your pet has fallen ill your appointment may last 30-45 minutes.

A routine exam consists of a physical evaluation of the organ systems
including: skin, musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive
(including mouth and teeth), genitourinary, eyes, ears, nervous system and
lymph nodes. Recommendations or further laboratory testing might be
recommended based on the physical exam.
After the examination:

The receptionist will check you out promptly.

If you have any questions after your appointment or are unclear about any
instructions given, please do not hesitate to ask.

Payment is requested at the time the services are rendered.
What new pet owners should expect on your first visit:

A new pet should have a stool sample (fecal) checked. Parasites and
worms are common and easily treated.

Any pet adopted from the humane society or a rescue group is given an exam
and fecal check free of charge.

The humane society and rescue groups provide the new owner with a vaccine and
medical history on your new pet. Please bring all information along on
your first visit, in order to help us determine if your new pet is due for
any vaccinations.

A heartworm test will be recommended for any puppy or dog that was born
before October of the upcoming heartworm season. The incubation period for
heartworm is 6 months.

All puppies receive their first month of heartworm preventative at no
charge.

All kittens (6 weeks or older) and new adult cats with no record of being
tested are strongly recommended to
be tested for feline leukemia.

All pets will be provided with a pet health record that will detail the
vaccinations given, along with any other pertinent information.

Reminder calls are provided for all vaccinations that need to be
boostered. Mailed reminders are provided for annual vaccination exams.
